IN BASIC LANGUAGE

If you are confused by theological words, or think the triunity of God is not in the Bible, then look with your own eyes and see:

The Father is God.  [Isaiah 63:16; 1 Corinthians 15:24]

The Son is God.  [Proverbs 30:4; John 1:1]

The Holy Spirit is God.  [Genesis 1:2; Acts 5:3-4]

God is one.  [Deuteronomy 6:4; James 2:19]

The three are One God.

       [Psalm 33:61 Corinthians 12:4-6; Matthew 28:19]

There it is.

God did not reveal His own nature with philosophical terms only scholars could understand.

God revealed Himself with basic words everyone could understand.

Want more? Here are short quotes and explanations, along with the distinctions added in:

1. The Father is God.

Isaiah 63:16  "You, O Yahweh, are our Father" (אַתָּה יהוה אָבִ֫ינוּ).

1 Corinthians 15:24  The Father is called "God The Father."

(This is redundant if God is only The Father).

2. The Son is God.

Proverbs 30:4  "Who has ascended into Heaven and descended? Who has established the ends of the earth?
What is His Name? And what is His Son's Name (וּמַה־שֶּׁם־בְנֹו)? If you know!"

Jesus quoted this verse while telling Nicodemus about Himself [John 3:13]. Interestingly, Jesus put Himself in the place of Yahweh, not of The Son of Yahweh. But then after the quotation was over, He said He was The Son ... of Man! ("Yahweh" is the covenant Name of the triune God—of Father, Son, and/or Spirit—not the Name of The Father only.)

John 1:1 ⇒ "The Word was God"

In vv.14-18, John tells us The Word became flesh and dwelled among us as Jesus, who is not merely "a" son of God, but "The" Son of God, who is unique-in-category (μονογενής). He is "God The [Only] Son" (μονογενὴς θεός).

3. The Spirit is God.

Genesis 1:2 ⇒ "The Spirit of God was moving (מְרַחֶ֫פֶת) over the surface of the waters [during Creation]."

(Additionally, "The Spirit of God" would be redundant since God is already spirit.

Acts 5:3-4 ⇒ "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to The Holy Spirit? You have not lied to people but to God!"

4. The Spirit is distinct from The Son, The Son is distinct from The Father, The Father is distinct from The Spirit.

John 14:16-17  Jesus said, "I will ask The Father, and He will give you another Advocate (παράκλητος) to be with you forever—The Spirit of Truth."

5. God is one.

Deuteronomy 6:4  "Yahweh is one" (יהוה אֶחָד).

James 2:19  God is one.

6. The three are One God.

Psalm 33:6  "By The Word of Yahweh (דְבַר יהוה) the heavens were made; by The Breath (רוּחַ) of His mouth all their host."

The Word of Yahweh is The Memra, or Logos, through whom all things were made [John 1:3; Genesis 1:3].

The Father doesn't have a bodyHe doesn't have a mouth. The רוּחַ is The Spirit ("breath" and "spirit" are the same Hebrew word) who participated in Creation [Genesis 1:2].

1 Corinthians 12:4-6  "Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different results, but the same God who produces all of them in everyone."

Matthew 28:19 ⇒ "The Name [singular] of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit."

"The Name," HaShem in Hebrew (השם), means more than it does in English. It is representative of Yahweh's reputation, characteristics, and even presence. HaShem has a long history of use by Jews to refer to God.
